Bitter Sweet

I don’t know if I’d call it luck or just stuff or what. Bad luck? Maybe… Bitter Sweet — definitely.

So a few months ago TH got contacted about this great job opportunity. Went through the interview process that took months and wound up not turning out. In the beginning we had high hopes. All these great amazing things that could be…everything so positive. And along the interview process, the more time we got, the more negative things we started to realize about the opportunity. It was bitter sweet in that he made contact and a good impression on this company and that he didn’t get the job.

A few weeks ago, at his current company, he was told he may have the opportunity to go to Switzerland on business for 3 months. I would be able to join him and it just seemed like it would be freakin’ awesome!!! We don’t have kids yet so it was perfect timing. We were soooo psyched to go to Switzerland. A chance to tour Europe. YAY! … So, I prepped and trained someone in my position so I could take some time away to go on this trip and luckily my boss said I would definitely have my job back when the trip was done. We were supposed to leave in September…so I had someone trained and I scheduled to take off work. Here I am. Sitting at home… not working and not in Switzerland. We were really gung-ho about it. It seemed like it was a definite thing, but then it was put on hold…then it was a maybe then it was a no… Darnit. The great thing about it though is that we won’t miss spending Thanskgiving, Christmas and New Years with our family… and I will get my job back sooner than later — which will help us pay the bills.

Now, we are trying to sell our house. A process that has ultimately taken a year (an idea that’s been in the works for over 2 years). Monday, hopefully, the brochure pics and everything will be taken and we can put it up on the market. Finally. Yessss! Which means… we can finally move, or at least start thinking of places to live.

We have thought mainly of places nearby, here in New Jersey.  More recently though, like this past weekend. TH and I both had Colorado on the brain. Cost of living is cheaper out there. That’s awesome. Job pay — i think it’s less .. but that’s b/c of  location-location-location, I guess. But the state itself. There are so many great things. And the more and more I look at NJ, the less and less I like it.

Sooo that’s where we are now.  Looking in to moving to Colorado.

TH is searching for jobs … and next step, get some interviews and see where that takes us. It’s all an idea that will take some work making it a reality. But now’s the time… before we actually buy a new place here in NJ. This is our chance to make decisions before it’s too late… or too hard to change.

Sooo here are some more photos from our fantabulous trip to Colorado earlier this year: ENJOY!

i’m all for the last plan. not biased or anything. just sayin’.

i agree, i’m sure that the pay is less out here, but also, the cost of living is as well. i will get some house ideas together in different price ranges in different locations and send them to you. just so you can have an idea on what you could get for your money. just so you know, you could have a home in our neighborhood right now for the low $300,000.

sometimes I wish I could move away from NJ. It’s just so expensive here. But everyone I love is here, so that’s never gonna happen.
I’d like to move to Texas. I could keep my job, so I’d be getting paid more compared to the cost of living. You can get a nice house crazy cheap down there. Oh, and the roads make sense. Driving in NJ is like navigating a maze 90% of the time. Lived here my whole life, we had a GPS and we still passed Cheeseburger in Paradise like four times last night before we got to it. It’s on 46E, but you can’t get to it from 46E. You have to take 23 to some service road. It’s pretty crazy.

Anyway, Colorado’s pretty good too. Bryan’s dad lives there. It’s good to live at high altitude. Keeps your body strong.
