SciAm recently released an article about how fat father’s can affect their female offspring’s health.
What I got from this article was that if a father (or mother, for that matter) are fat at the time of conceiving, their offspring have a greater risk/chance for being overweight / obese / insulin resistant when they ‘grow up’.
“…it’s still not clear whether these changes are caused by a lifelong fatty diet, or whether there are crucial periods in a father’s development when his sperm are affected by such a diet.”
Hmmm interesting.
Also interesting that this study can not conclude any particular results in ‘sons’. Not yet at least.
I am overweight.
Do I blame my mom or dad? – No. (though that would be the easy way out)
I blame my poor diet and my lack of exercise these past few years.
I do, however, have an insulin resistance. I am on meds. Which have helped me to lose 25lbs since February of this year. WITHOUT modifying my diet or adding exercise. I’m glad that I found out about this insulin resistance b/c there were many a time last year that I dieted and exercised only to have NO weightloss to show for it. At least I had some reason why.
Now, I have no excuse. I have the meds. They are helping…now I need to step up my game.

I think I have insulin resistance…looking into it…I think me eating and drinking sugar and less than stellar exercise regime is most likely the biggest culprit in my physique.
I am trying cinnamon, modifying my diet and Zumba to see if the scale moves.
Good luck Wifey on your health journey
Hugs,
Jen
