12/5/11 – marked 2 months since the girls were born.
They have come so far during that time. I’ve been looking back at photos and can’t believe how much they’ve changed.
Look at this photo of the girls. In which, I have to admit, Kara (left) is looking a bit ‘odd’. And Summer (right) is so tiny and blonde (wtf?)
Compare that to these pictures taken at exactly 2 months old.

When we last weighed the girls (at home) Summer weighed 1.5lbs heavier than Kara. I couldn’t believe it! – Our baby B is out-growing baby A? Yuppers!
The girls have kept me very very busy. The first month took some getting used to but for the most part I was just elated at it all. Overwhelming though it was, every moment I was happy.
Then things changed. My health issues, which seem to be nothing but a D3 deficiency … and the girls starting to stay awake for longer periods of time, mixed with a little bit of built up sleep deprivation — led to some frustrating moments.
I’m very lucky to have a husband who helps me, a lot.
I know I’m lucky, b/c people tell me I am. There are women with singletons who are pretty much the full-time caretakers of their children, even though they are married and living with the father of their baby. Same with other twin mommies. I don’t understand it. Is society soooo stuck in the old fashioned times where a man works therefore a woman must take care of house and home … and babies alone?? Hells no! Well according to the majority of mommies I know, they are married to men who feel that it is okay to think and live that way. Even if the woman is also working full time … she must not only work, but once she is home she must take care of babes and have a hot meal on the table. WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?!
TH is wonderful. He and I compromise and work together. We schedule things, we make it as fair as we can. On nights that I feel just sooo overwhelmed, he notices it, and he offers to take my ‘shift’ with the girls, on top of his shift. This leaves him with barely any sleep time, and having to go to work the next day on top of that. He works from home 3 days a week, and helps me at the drop of a hat when I call him. I am thankful. Because, without him there’s no way me and the babes could’ve made it this far as sane as we all are.
I love TH, and my two beautiful baby girls.
2 Month Milestones -
The girls have finally ‘noticed’ each other.
Summer smiles @ Kara when she sees her.
Kara smiles @ her mobile on the bed when we turn it on.
They have learned social smiling (instead of just smiling in their sleep or when they have gas)
They can lift their heads pretty well — but hate tummy time.
I can hold Summer on my hip and she keeps her head up by herself ![]()
We’ve attended our first Moms of Multiples playgroup and it was a success.
Summer is ‘cluster feeding’ which is supposedly a marker for Sleeping through the night (to come)
Kara already sleeps up to 9 hours a night… even though she eats about half of what Summer eats in a day.
Happy 2 Months, girls!!!

tee hee — everyone is posting pics with these stickers on their babes for the month milestones. I didn’t buy any stickers so I added them in with a photo editor instead. Woo hoo for free!!
